On Saturday, August 9, at 10:00 a.m., the friends of the late Representative Dan Lakly will hold a formal unveiling of the street sign designating Dan Lakly Drive in Peachtree City. The Mayor and City Council officially renamed Crossings East to Dan Lakly Drive on July 17, 2008, to recognize the former Peachtree City Council Member, Fayette County Commissioner, and Representative in the Georgia Legislature. Dan Lakly Drive is located off Highway 54 just east of Peachtree Parkway between the Chick-Fil-A and McDonalds restaurants. Representative Lakly could be found every morning at Peachtree City's first McDonalds, where he had coffee and greeted constituents. Lakly passed away suddenly on October 29, 2007.
