With less than 24 hours until the New Hampshire primary, the New Hampshire for Hillary campaign’s Get Out the Vote Operation is in full swing. Staff, volunteers, and supporters are working around the clock to ensure that New Hampshire voters know that tomorrow they can help pick a president who can hit the ground running on day one.
In the final hours leading up to the primary, over 6,000 volunteers will fan out across the state, participating in more than 200 canvasses and knocking on tens of thousands of doors. In their efforts to reach out to their friends and neighbors across the state, volunteers and staff will walk close to 400 miles.
Staff and volunteers will be joined in their efforts by more than a dozen national supporters including campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe; Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony Brown; tennis legend Billie Jean King; Senator Evan Bayh (D-IN); Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa; Senior Campaign Advisor Ann Lewis; Congressman Jim McGovern (D-MA); Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA); Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (D-MA); Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX); Congressman Joe Crowley (D-NY); Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-NY); General Wesley Clark; and EMILY’s List President Ellen Malcolm. Along with Senator Clinton and President Clinton, they have made stops in all 10 counties.
Tomorrow, nearly 300 campaign drivers will make sure that New Hampshire voters have transportation to their polling locations. Staff and volunteers will continue working hard until the polls close to convey one message: Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to make real change happen.

Hunter Town Hall Meet Draws Over 3,900
The hot topic was immigration as the Republican candidates spared and sparks flew in the ABC News, Facebook Debate. At the same time Presidential candidate Duncan Hunter, who was excluded by ABC from the debate, was having forum-townhall meeting at the Radisson hotel in Manchester. He was joined by former Senator Bob Smith, war hero General Chuck Yeager and, through a special telephone hook-up, by more than 3,900 New Hampshire residents. The group discussed the fact that there were only three men in America who have Republican delegates for President, and Hunter being one of them. Hunter, Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney won delegates in the Wyoming caucus Saturday. Many were stunned that ABC had not allowed Hunter to participate in the debate.
New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen weighed in on the debate when ABC/facebook excluded Hunter from Saturday night’s live broadcast. The network claimed Hunter lacked the support to be included in the broadcast: “Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first-in-the-nation primary. The level playing field requires that all candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate – not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.” After unsuccessful attempts to convince Fox and ABC to reconsider, Cullen announced New Hampshire GOP would no longer support the Republican forum scheduled for Sunday on FOX that has also excluded Hunter.
Hunter has been the leader on immigration reform. The townhall audience noted the fact that several other Republican candidates are now “speaking” Hunter’s positions on immigration. Hunter’s position for the last 20 years was quoted, almost verbatim, during the televised debate. Hunter, who built the double fence along the San Diego border is the only candidate that has actually taken action that resulted in securing our southern borders.
Hunter has also been a long-standing supporter of a strong national defense. He is an opponent of NAFTA, and is fighting to bring jobs back to America. He wants a fair trade balance, especially with the Communist Chinese, and he is a lifelong supporter of a Buy-American policy.
Supports are sending request to Fox News Channel to reinstate Hunter in tonight’s debate. Fox can be reached by calling 1-888-369-4762, extension 4, or (212) 301-3000, or emailing at yourcomments@foxnews.com The Fox News Washington, D.C. telephone number is 202-824-6300.

Bill Richardson Makes Final Four
New Mexico Governor and Democratic Presidential candidate Bill Richardson finished in fourth place in today's Iowa caucuses, moving his campaign forward to the New Hampshire primary on January 8th.
"We made it to the final four," Richardson said. "My staff and volunteers worked their hearts out to get us here. Now we are going to take the fight to New Hampshire."
Richardson received 7 % of the vote in entrance polls. After watching the results at a rally in Des Moines, he boarded a plane for New Hampshire.
"It has been an honor to meet with Iowans and be a part of this extraordinary process," Richardson said. "I am the one candidate who has said we must end this war by getting all our troops out of Iraq. We cannot truly change this country until we end this war- and we can only do that by getting every US troop out. Americans who want to get us out of Iraq aren't giving up and neither am I. We cannot end the division in this country until we are out of Iraq and we cannot focus on fixing our problems at home and our image abroad until our troops are out of Iraq. We cannot wait until 2013 or longer."
"Thank you, Iowa. Now we go on to New Hampshire."

Statement from Patti Solis Doyle, Clinton Campaign Manager
Congratulations to Senator Obama and his campaign on their victory tonight. It’s been a hard fought race here in Iowa for the last year and all eyes now turn to New Hampshire.
Hillary is going to continue making the case that in these serious times when America faces big challenges, it will take a leader with the strength and experience to deliver real change.
This race begins tonight and ends when Democrats throughout America have their say. Our campaign was built for a marathon and we have the resources to run a national race in the weeks ahead.

Fred Thompson to Supporters
It's been a long day in Iowa and our supporters were terrific! A special thank you to all of our volunteers in the state and those who phoned for Fred from your homes.
Soon Fred will be heading to New Hampshire, ready to bring his consistent conservative message to voters in the Granite State for two weekend debates before loading the bus back up and heading down to South Carolina.
Fred is working hard! His 50 stop bus tour through Iowa allowed him to take his message directly to the people, and they responded. He will continue working hard and talking about his vision for our country, meeting face to face with the folks who will cast the votes that will decide this election.
Fred's policy proposals and his stances on the issues that matter in this campaign remain the most consistent and impressive of all the candidates. He's got the wind at his back and is poised to make a serious move.
Your support has been vital to our success. Thank you for being a part of the team! Now is not the time to ease up, we need you now more than ever.
Fred is in this race to win. He is working hard. He needs your continued support. Thanks for all you have done.
On to victory!!
Sincerely,
William B. LacyCampaign Manager

Edwards to Supporters
It was a strong night for us - we finished second in Iowa, beating out the Clinton machine. Change won tonight - the status quo lost. But now the fight is on - and they're going to come after us, trying to drown out our message of change with their hundreds of millions of dollars. That's why I need you to make a contribution to my campaign today.
Click here to make a contribution.
What we saw in Iowa was two candidates who thought their money would make them inevitable. But what the Iowa caucus goers have shown us is that if you're willing to have a little backbone, to have the courage to speak for the middle class, to speak for those who have no voice, and if you're willing to stand up to corporate greed, then that message and the American people are unstoppable, no matter how much money is spent to prevent that message from getting out. That's why I need your support today, so those who believe in the status quo will not stop our message of change that this country so desperately needs.
Click here to make a contribution.
I am so proud of this cause - and so grateful for your support. It is your support that has sustained Elizabeth and me as we have campaigned across this country. You have created a tidal wave of change that will sweep from Iowa to New Hampshire, to Nevada and South Carolina. Continue to stand with me, so that when this wave of change is done, every one of us will be able to look our children in the eye and say, "We did for you what our parents did for us - we left America better for you than we found it."
Thank you for your support - the wave of change has begun.
Sincerely, John

"Bill Richardson, the only heavy-weight in bout for Democratic nomination"
The Conway Daily Sun has endorsed New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson for President, calling him "the only heavy-weight" in the Democratic race.
In their endorsement, the Sun writes: "Richardson has heavyweight credentials for a heavyweight job; Obama, Edwards and Clinton, by comparison, have barely found their way into the ring."
The Sun cites Bill Richardson's successful tenure as Governor, comparing his track record to that of New Hampshire Governor John Lynch.
"Like our own Gov. John Lynch, Richardson is a big hit in his home state, where he is considered one of the nation's most environmentally-conscious governors. In New Mexico, he has raised the minimum wage, given all children under 5 access to health insurance, cut taxes and is pro-business."
With the Sun's endorsement, Bill Richardson becomes the first Democrat outside of Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to earn the support of a New Hampshire newspaper.
The Conway Daily Sun endorsement follows:
Bill Richardson, the only heavy-weight in bout for Democratic nomination
Sen. Joe Biden, a contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, said in a recent interview that if it weren't for Iowa and New Hampshire, the candidate with the most money would always win.
Retail politics works. And it's not overstating it to say that because N.H. voters see, hear and meet the candidates in person, we are better informed than voters in the rest of country, who rely primarily on electronic media.
The result: N.H. voters often pick winners, and if not winners, candidates who, in hindsight, should have won. How much better off would the Republican Party-and the United States-be today if the rest of the country had followed New Hampshire eight years ago and elected
Sen. John McCain?
In 2000, the Sun was the only newspaper in New Hampshire to endorse McCain in the Republican primary. In 2004, we supported Gen. Wesley Clark over Sen. John Kerry in the Democratic primary. Granted, neither won, but we feel as good about those selections today as we did then.
We live in a world where Russia's leader may rewrite his country's constitution to maintain power, and where violence is often the political tool of choice, as in much of the Middle East. It is remarkable, and a testament to the strength of this country, that the next leader of the free world understands the real power of this country is in its people, and the path to the White House includes running the gauntlet at little N.H. newspapers like the Sun.
The editorial staff of the Sun is extraordinarily fortunate to have had exclusive access to the candidates. Without handlers at their sides or the national media butting in, most of the candidates have given our eight writers and editors an hour to engage in freewheeling question-and-answer exchanges.
Our staff takes seriously its bit part in selecting the next president. It is impossible to completely discount the "electability" factor and screen out mainstream media, but each of us weighs heavily what we observe in these editorial board interviews.
In our opinion, this year's Democrats are stronger than we've ever seen, and out of three that we believe could be good presidents, we endorse N.M. Gov. Bill Richardson.
It boils down to this: Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards are clearly highly principled people of integrity, and in another race the Sun would have supported one of them.
While Obama and Edwards have the big media budgets, neither has the experience of Richardson. And as for Hillary Clinton, this is what fringe candidate and straight-talking former Sen. Mike Gravel says.
"The Clintons should read the Constitution, eight years is all they get."
A handful of years as senator for each of them simply does not stack up to Richardson's powerful resume as a former congressman, energy secretary, U.N. ambassador, and now, governor of New Mexico.
Like our own Gov. John Lynch, Richardson is a big hit in his home state, where he is considered one of the nation's most environmentally-conscious governors. In New Mexico, he has raised the minimum wage, given all children under 5 access to health insurance, cut taxes and is pro-business.
On the national level, his experience negotiating with bad boys like Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro and the North Koreans is world-renowned. Richardson gained the reputation as Pres. Bill Clinton's top international troubleshooter, and during the '90s humorously referred to himself as the "undersecretary of thugs." His success as a negotiator also earned him four nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Richardson has heavyweight credentials for a heavyweight job; Obama, Edwards and Clinton, by comparison, have barely found their way into the ring.
The knock against Richardson is that he doesn't have the dynamic personality of Ronald Reagan or Bill Clinton, although in person he's funny and engaging. Asked about this rap and to compare himself to Bill Clinton, Richardson says, "Yes, Clinton can electrify a room, but I can get it done." We're convinced he can, and we ask you to join us in voting for him.
To learn more about Richardson, read the Albuquerque Journal's comprehensive series on his life and career at www.abqjournal.com/richardson.

MICHIGAN STATE SENATOR MARK JANSEN ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN FOR PRESIDENT
U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today announced that Michigan State Senator Mark Jansen has endorsed John McCain for president and will serve as Co-Chair of the McCain campaign in West Michigan.
"John McCain understands the challenges facing communities in Michigan and has a plan to cut taxes and restore trust in our government. His lifetime of service and experience makes him the most prepared to lead from day one and that was made very clear by the recent tragedy in Pakistan," said Senator Mark Jansen. "He is the only candidate prepared to lead our country in the battle against radical extremism and I am proud to support his candidacy."
John McCain added, "I am grateful that Mark is joining our team and will help lead our efforts in West Michigan. I look forward to working with him as we gear-up for Michigan's January 15th Primary and to visiting our friends in West Michigan again soon."
Senator Jansen was recently named the most conservative member of the Michigan Senate by MichiganVotes.org. He will serve as Chair of the West Michigan town hall with John McCain on January 9th -- the day after the New Hampshire Primary.
Senator Jansen was elected to the Michigan State Senate in 2006. He was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 1996 and was re-elected twice, serving through 2002. During his first term, he was elected by his peers to be an assistant minority whip and was a member of the House Bipartisan Urban Caucus. During his second term, the Speaker appointed Jansen to lead the House Republican Policy Committee and to serve on the House Republican Campaign Committee. Before his tenure in the Michigan House, Jansen was elected as the Gaines Township Clerk from 1992-1996.
In 2007, Senator Jansen was awarded Michigan's Children Legislative Hero Award, Michigan Soft Drink Association's Legislative Leadership Award, Michigan Non-Profit Association National Service Champion Award and the Michigan Municipal League Legislator Salute.

JOHN MCCAIN 2008 LAUNCHES NEW TELEVISION AD, "CONSIDER"
U.S. Senator John McCain's presidential campaign today launched a new television ad in New Hampshire, entitled "Consider," responding to Mitt Romney's negative attack ad.
"Consider" will run on New Hampshire and Boston television.
VIEW THE NEW AD HERE: http://www.johnmccain.com/tvads/
Script for "Consider" (:30-TV)
JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approve this message.
ANNCR: As you hear Mitt Romney attack John McCain, consider these words from New Hampshire newspapers.
The Union Leader says John McCain has "conviction" and "Granite Staters want a candidate who will look them in the eye and tell them the truth."
"John McCain has done that."
"Mitt Romney has not."
The Concord Monitor writes, "If a candidate is a phony ... we'll know it."
"Mitt Romney is such a candidate."
That's why Romney's hometown newspaper says the "choice is clear:" John McCain.
AD FACTS: JOHN MCCAIN 2008, "CONSIDER"
New Hampshire Union Leader: "[Romney] Lacks Something John McCain Has In Spades: Conviction. Granite Staters Want A Candidate Who Will Look Them In The Eye And Tell Them The Truth. John McCain Has Done That Day In And Day Out, Never Wavering, Never Faltering, Never Pandering. Mitt Romney Has Not." "And after a year of comparing Romney to McCain, of sizing up the two in person and in the media, Granite Staters are turning back to McCain. The former Navy pilot, once written off by the national media establishment, is now in a statistical dead heat with Romney here. How could that be? Romney has all the advantages: money, organization, geographic proximity, statesman-like hair, etc. But he lacks something John McCain has in spades: conviction. Granite Staters want a candidate who will look them in the eye and tell them the truth. John McCain has done that day in and day out, never wavering, never faltering, never pandering. Mitt Romney has not. He has spoken his lines well, but the people can sense that the words are memorized, not heartfelt. ... In this primary, the more Mitt Romney speaks, the less believable he becomes. ... Voters can see that John McCain is trustworthy. Mitt Romney has spent a year trying to convince Granite Staters that he is as well. It looks like they aren't buying it. And for good reason." (Editorial, "The Romney Backlash: Conservatives Are Coming Home," New Hampshire Union Leader, 12/26/07)
Concord Monitor: "If A Candidate Is A Phony, We Assure Ourselves And The Rest Of The World, We'll Know It. Mitt Romney Is Such A Candidate." "When New Hampshire partisans are asked to defend the state's first-in-the-nation primary, we talk about our ability to see the candidates up close, ask tough questions and see through the baloney. If a candidate is a phony, we assure ourselves and the rest of the world, we'll know it. Mitt Romney is such a candidate." (Editorial, "Romney Should Not Be The Next President," Concord Monitor, 12/28/07)
Boston Herald: "Choice Is Clear: McCain's The One." "There are times in this nation's history so perilous that they cry out for a steady, experienced leader, a person so trusted that we would put the fate of this country in his hands. This is one of those times, and Sen. John McCain is that person. He has a brand of courage that is rare in the public arena these days -- a courage forged in part by those years spent as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and in part by more than two decades of fighting for what he believes in on the floor of the U.S. Senate. In an age when too many candidates are driven by polls and focus groups, fashioning and re-fashioning their 'core' beliefs, McCain is a man of unwavering conviction and integrity. His values, his beliefs, his goals are what they were when he first entered public life, what they were in 2000 and what they will be a decade from now." (Editorial, "Choice Is Clear: McCain's The One," Boston Herald, 12/20/07)

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: John McCain For The New Hampshire Union Leader: "U.S. Needs Comprehensive, Free-Market Health Care Reform"
"My reforms will make the entire health care system responsive to the needs of the American family and are built on the pursuit of three goals: paying only for quality medical care, having insurance choices that are diverse and responsive to individual needs, and restoring our sense of personal responsibility. -- Sen. John McCain
Excerpts from "U.S. Needs Comprehensive, Free-Market Health Care Reform"
By John McCain
The New Hampshire Union Leader
December 28, 2007
We have an approaching perfect storm in health care, and no one seems to be watching the clouds gather.
More families are without health insurance as premiums increase beyond the affordability of our citizens and their employers. Our safety net programs of Medicare and Medicaid are headed to financial meltdown and draining dollars from critical programs such as education. Our companies cannot continue to compete outside the country because health care costs are so much higher in the United States.
Who among the candidates is speaking honestly to the American people about the problem with the American health care system? Democratic presidential candidates are not telling you these truths. They are running the same old playbook: promise "universal coverage" and everything will be fine.
I offer a genuinely conservative vision for health care reform, which preserves the most essential value of American lives -- freedom.
We should not attempt to substitute government coercion for the right of individuals to decide what is best for them. Our citizens should not pay for the collective sins of a failed health care system. We must use the tools that have served us so well in the past -- competition, American ingenuity and personal responsibility.
My reforms will make the entire health care system responsive to the needs of the American family and are built on the pursuit of three goals: paying only for quality medical care, having insurance choices that are diverse and responsive to individual needs, and restoring our sense of personal responsibility.
Along with changing the practice of medicine by our health professionals, as a nation we must recognize and encourage personal responsibility for health prevention and promotion. We have an epidemic of obesity. Diabetes and high blood pressure will limit and shorten the lives of too many in the next generation. We must again teach the value of good nutrition and exercise to children and parents alike.
While we reform the system and rein in costs, we need to expand access to care to those who have already been squeezed out.
We need innovative insurance options that belong to policy-holders and move with you to new a new job or a new city. We will know we've been successful when you can fire your insurance company, rather than the other way around.
And we need to reform the tax system to allow individuals to deduct the cost of insurance to help level the playing field. In the process, we should make tax credits available for those who cannot afford insurance.
We can build a health care system that is more responsive to our needs and is delivered to more people at lower cost. The engine of our prosperity and progress has always been our freedom and the sense of responsibility for and control of our own destiny that freedom requires. These trusted and time-tested truths will work in health care reform.

FORMER NEW HAMPSHIRE FIRST LADY GALE THOMSON ENDORSES GOVERNOR MITT ROMNEY
12/28/07 Today, former New Hampshire First Lady Gale Thomson announced her endorsement of Governor Mitt Romney. Mrs. Thomson is the wife of late New Hampshire Governor Meldrim Thomson Jr., who's "Ax the Tax" platform inspired future state and national candidates to take a pledge against raising taxes. She joins her son, anti-tax advocate Tom Thomson, who had previously announced his support of Governor Romney.
"Governor Romney strongly believes that through fiscally conservative policies, we can grow the economy, create better jobs and build a stronger America for future generations. He fought for those principles as Governor and he'll do the same as our nation's president. My husband always said, 'low taxes are the result of low spending,' and Mitt Romney embodies this vital conservative principle. I would encourage all Granite Staters to join me in supporting Governor Romney's campaign," said Gale Thomson.
Upon the announcement, Governor Romney said, "I am honored to have the endorsement of Gale Thomson, one of New Hampshire's most respected leaders. She and her husband faithfully served the people of the Granite State and worked to bring fiscally responsible policies to the State Capitol. I look forward to working with her to bring conservative change to Washington."
Background On Former New Hampshire First Lady Gale Thomson:
Gale Thomson Is The Widow Of Former Governor Meldrim Thomson, Jr., And Served As New Hampshire's First Lady From 1973 Until 1979. During that time, she also served as a Trustee of the Youth Development Center. Today, Mrs. Thomson resides in Orford, New Hampshire and runs Mt. Cube Farm. She has six children, 18 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. She was a Trustee of the Robert Frost Farm and a member of the Lilac Commission.

The Keene Sentinel: "Perhaps Most Important, He Campaigns With Decency." "Where McCain most distinguishes himself from the rest of this year's Republican pack is in the areas of life experience and force of character. He is not a single-issue candidate off on a frantic ideological jag. Although his political ideology has evolved through experience over the years, he has not changed his previous political positions en masse to appeal to the presumed prejudices and preferences of voters. Nor has he tried to craft a candidacy around an artificial persona who promises to save us all from terrorists, or from the devil. And, perhaps most important, he campaigns with decency." (Editorial, "John McCain," The Keene Sentinel, 12/21/07)
Salmon Press: "John McCain Has The Right Stuff ... To Become Among Our Greatest Presidents ... His Experience In Foreign Affairs And In Military Issues Is Unmatched In The Field." U.S. Sen. John McCain has the right stuff to become a statesman, indeed to become among our greatest presidents, but standing in his way is the prickly business of having to get elected. Once considered the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party, his presidential campaign stumbled in the early going -- in part because he refused to bend his principles -- but is now gaining some momentum. We hope that momentum continues, for in our judgment John McCain towers over his political rivals and is our unwavering choice in New Hampshire's Republican presidential primary next month. Sen. McCain is a man of great depth and character. He has demonstrated an enormous capacity for growth over his political career and his military record is trul y heroic -- in stark contrast to those of his opponents. As a congressman and senator from Arizona he has exhibited the ability to attract both sides of the political aisle. And yet he is a conservative in the best sense of the word: principled, unwilling to cave for political gain and an unbowed enemy of wasteful spending. His experience in foreign affairs and in military issues is unmatched in the field." (Editorial, "New Hampshire's Salmon Press Endorses Sen. John McCain," Salmon Press, 12/13/07)
Portsmouth Herald: "Principled." "U.S. Sen. John McCain will tell you the truth, even if it costs him the election. He has a very clear-eyed view of the truth having spent his life fighting for our country and leading the U.S. Senate for the past 20 years on virtually every critical issue facing our nation. In our view, John McCain stands head and shoulders above the rest of the Republican field and deserves the support of those voting in the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary Jan. 8. ... McCain is pro-life, but his views are broad in this area. He also believes in federal funding of embryonic stem cell research because in his view life is also sacred after you have left the womb. This kindness and pragmatism also guided his thinking on immigration. McCain's state of Arizona borders Mexico and is on the front line of America's struggle with illegal immigration. His position is that we need to tighten our borders and enforce the laws already on the books, but we also need to create a path to citizenship for good, honest, hardworking families who make a real contribution to this country. His principled stance on immigration has made enemies in his own party and has hurt him in Iowa where this is a major issue." (Editorial, "Vote Sen. McCain In GOP Primary," Portsmouth Herald, 12/16/07)
New Hampshire Union Leader: "His Record, His Character, And His Courage Show Him To Be The Most Trustworthy, Competent, And Conservative Of All Those Seeking The Nomination." "What is most compelling about McCain, however, is that his record, his character, and his courage show him to be the most trustworthy, competent, and conservative of all those seeking the nomination. Simply put, McCain can be trusted to make informed decisions based on the best interests of his country, come hell or high water." (Joseph W. McQuaid, "John McCain Is The Man To Lead America," New Hampshire Union Leader, 12/2/07)
Portsmouth Herald: "He Is A Man Of Integrity And Honor ... He Is A Strong Military Man Prepared From Day One To Defend Our Nation Against Its Enemies. Of All The Republicans Running, He Is By Far The Best Qualified To Lead Our Country." "John McCain has been leading the country from his seat in the U.S. Senate for 20 years. He is a man of integrity and honor who would help the Republicans rid themselves of the stench of Jack Abramoff and other lobbyists and allow the GOP to reclaim its status as the party of fiscal restraint. He is a strong military man prepared from day one to defend our nation against its enemies. Of all the Republicans running, he is by far the best qualified to lead our country." (Editorial, "Vote Sen. McCain In GOP Primary," Portsmouth Herald, 12/16/07)
Valley News: "His Case Is Plausible, And His Credentials In National Security Matters Impeccable." "And although we do not agree with McCain's thesis that prompt withdrawal of American troops from Iraq would necessarily have dire consequences throughout the Middle East and the world, we do not dismiss it lightly, either. His case is plausible, and his credentials in national security matters impeccable." (Editorial, "The Case For McCain: An Honorable Primary Choice," Valley News, 12/19/07)
The Boston Globe: "McCain Has Done More Than His Share To Transcend Partisanship And Promote An Honest Discussion Of The Problems Facing The United States." "As a lawmaker and as a candidate, McCain has done more than his share to transcend partisanship and promote an honest discussion of the problems facing the United States. He deserves the opportunity to represent his party in November's election." (Editorial, "For Republicans: John McCain," The Boston Globe, 12/16/07)
New Hampshire Union Leader: "John McCain Is The Man To Lead America." (Joseph W. McQuaid, "John McCain Is The Man To Lead America," New Hampshire Union Leader, 12/2/07)
Boston Herald: "Choice Is Clear: McCain's The One." "There are times in this nation's history so perilous that they cry out for a steady, experienced leader, a person so trusted that we would put the fate of this country in his hands. This is one of those times, and Sen. John McCain is that person. He has a brand of courage that is rare in the public arena these days a courage forged in part by those years spent as a prisoner of war in Vietnam and in part by more than two decades of fighting for what he believes in on the floor of the U.S. Senate. In an age when too many candidates are driven by polls and focus groups, fashioning and re-fashioning their core' beliefs, McCain is a man of unwavering conviction and integrity. His values, his beliefs, his goals are what they were when he first entered public life, what they were in 2000 and what they will be a decade from now." (Editorial, "Choice Is Clear: McCai n's The One," Boston Herald, 12/20/07)

Lieberman on John McCain
My Fellow American,
Last week I went to New Hampshire to ask Republican and Independent voters to support John McCain in the first-in-the-nation primary on January 8.
I know that it is unusual for someone who is not a Republican to endorse a Republican candidate for President. And if this were an ordinary time and an ordinary election, I probably would not have done so. But this is no ordinary time -- and this is no ordinary election -- and John McCain is no ordinary candidate.
In this critical election, no one should let party lines be a barrier to choosing the person we believe is best qualified to lead our nation forward. The problems that confront us are too great, the threats we face too real, and the opportunities we have too exciting for us to play partisan politics with the Presidency.
My friend John McCain is that candidate, and that is why I am so proud to endorse and support him for President.
I have worked closely with John for many years on many issues. I have seen John, time and again, rise above the negativism and smallness of our politics to get things done for this country we love so much. John McCain has proven that we can trust him to do what is right for our country, not only when it is easy, but when it is hard; to do what is necessary, not only when it is popular, but when it is not; and to tell us the truth, not only when it is easy to hear, but when it is not.
As President, John McCain will bring America together again. He will inspire a new American unity and a new American patriotism. He will push all of us to work together to solve our biggest problems, and defeat our most dangerous enemies.
Throughout our history, succeeding generations of brave Americans have risked their lives for the cause of freedom -- which is America's cause. Throughout his career, from the ranks of the military to halls of the Congress, John McCain has made freedom's cause his own. He learned the ideals of patriotism and service from his father, he taught them to his sons, and he will hold those ideals high as an inspiration for all Americans.
When others were silent, and it was thought politically unpopular, John had the courage and common sense to sound the alarm about the mistakes we were making in Iraq and to call for more troops and a new strategy there. And when others wavered, when others wanted to retreat from the field of battle, John had the courage and the common sense to stand against the tide of public opinion and support the surge in Iraq, where we are at last winning.
There are many fine people running for President. Many of them are good friends of mine. But I have concluded -- and I hope you will, as well -- that John McCain is the candidate who can best reunite our country and lead us to victory.
Now I ask you to do all that you can to elect John McCain the next President of the United States. Every one of us should make a contribution. You can follow this link and make a secure donation right now.
After you have contributed to the cause I want you to follow this link to volunteer to make phone calls into the early primary states on behalf of the campaign. John McCain is the right man for the times and we all need to do our part to further the cause of liberty and freedom for all Americans.
Sincerely,
Joe Lieberman
United States Senator
PS. When it comes to keeping America safe in this time of war, John has proven that he has the experience, the strength, and the character, to be our commander-in-chief from day one. I have traveled the world with John, so I can tell you how much he is liked and admired by leaders across the globe. He will be a President our friends will respect and our enemies will fear, and a President who will lead our nation on the world stage with purpose and principle. Please join me in doing all that we can to support the election of John McCain.

No One Is Better Qualified To Be President Than Rudy Giuliani
New Hampshire Union Leader
December 26, 2007 Robert Roughsedge Op-Ed
I support Rudy Giuliani for President because he has demonstrated a remarkable ability to lead in the government sector. This is no small accomplishment.
New York City was the most crime-ridden city in America when Rudy took over, and he made it the safest large city in America. New York is also the third-largest government in the United States. Big government traditionally means bureaucracy and inefficiency. Rudy transformed this Democratic stronghold into, as George Will described it, “the most successful episode of conservative government in this country in the last 50 years.”
Rudy inherited a $2.3 billion budget deficit and turned it into a multi-billion dollar surplus by reducing taxes 23 times, cutting regulations and reducing the size of the bureaucracy by 20 percent. The economic revival of New York City created 423,000 jobs and helped move 640,000 people off of welfare
This is an amazing accomplishment. Add to that the leadership he displayed under pressure and during a crisis of monumental proportions after the brutal attacks of 9/11 and the choice is clear. To paraphrase an old line, “If he can make it there, he’ll make it any where …”
Rudy’s experience and accomplishments under the most difficult circumstances are unmatched by any of his rivals.
Giuliani has legs. He can take his home state in the general election — a huge jackpot of electoral votes. Even better, Giuliani puts New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania in play. Florida? Yeah, we got that too. Giuliani is even popular in California.
The last time the Democrats had to spend money in California in the general election was against Ronald Reagan. President Reagan was a conservative. However, conservative beliefs alone did not make Ronald Reagan’s presidency successful. It was President Reagan’s leadership that made the difference. All candidates and Presidents, liberal and conservative, believe that their policies will achieve the same goal — a better America. But very few Presidents have been able to accomplish this goal. Rudy Giuliani accomplished his goals on a scale and on a stage far more impressive than any of the other current candidates. As a leader, Rudy Giuliani is proven, tested and reliable.

STATEMENT BY JOHN MCCAIN ON MITT ROMNEY'S LATEST ATTACKS
U.S. Senator John McCain today issued the following statement on Mitt Romney's latest desperate attacks:
"I know something about tailspins, and it's pretty clear Mitt Romney is in one. It's disappointing that he would launch desperate, flailing and false attacks in an attempt to maintain relevance. As the Union Leader said today, New Hampshire voters just aren't buying his act, and these latest attacks won't help him."
